The Benefits of Cloth Diapering

August 28, 2017 by Meg Leave a Comment

Are you thinking about making the switch to cloth diapers but aren’t fully convinced? I wasn’t either in the beginning. But after lots of research and hearing about all the different benefits of using cloth diapers instead of disposable, I was excited to make the switch to cloth diapers. In this post I will give you some of the awesome benefits of cloth diapering.

Environmentally Friendly

By switching to cloth diapers you can save a bunch of trees and you won’t clog up the landfills with a butt load of disposable diapers that take literally forever to decompose. Now, I’m not a huge environmentalist so I don’t know how many trees you actually can save, but I think its pretty awesome that we are doing the environment a solid by switching to cloth diapers.

Cost Effective

In the long run, cloth diapering will save you a lot of money. Especially if you continue to cloth diaper right up until you potty train. It can be anywhere from $2500-$3000 for one child to be in diapers from birth to potty training age. Now what if you have two or more? Thats a lot of money!

The start up cost for cloth diapers can be pricey, about $350 to start a good stash. But within the first 6 months, you would have already spent that on diapers anyways. And the good thing about investing his money in the beginning is that you can use these diaper for the next child as well. So instead of paying $2500 per child you could just spend $350 up front. Now there might be some where and tear on the cloth diapers so you have to replace some, but the cost to do that will still save you so much money.

In case you’re on a tight budget I have a cost effective way to start cloth diapering here.

No Chemicals

There are no chemicals in cloth diapers like there is in disposable diapers. So you will not have to worry about switching brands to try and keep your babies butt happy. Cloth diapers are perfect for babies with sensitive skin.

No More Diaper Rashes

Cloth diapers wick away moisture from your baby bottom meaning there is less of a chance for your baby to get a diaper rash.

No More Blowouts

Im not really sure why, but cloth diapers seem to contain all blow outs. Seriously. I’ve had a few scares. You can see it in your babies face, you just know its about to be the dirtiest poop you’ve ever seen. So I prepare myself for the worse, did another new onsie just get ruined? Is there going to be poop on my hands the minute I pick you up? Oh boy here we go. Guess what? There was nothing, no blow out! The inside of the diaper was a nightmare but totally worth it because that cloth diaper contained it all.

I think dealing with no blow outs its my favourite part of cloth diapering.

Stylish

Cloth diapers are seriously so cute! There are so many patterns to choose from you’ll never get bored. You can match them to their outfits or even to the seasons and holidays. You dress up your baby in such cute outfits you might as well have the diaper look good too!

I hope this post has helped you come closer to making the switch to cloth diapers but if not check out my post on cloth diapering concerns.
