The Best Ways To Induce Labor Naturally

Exercise

Exercising is a proven way to help prepare the body for labor and can help position baby in an optimal birthing position for an easier delivery.

Please consult with your healthcare professional before performing these exercises to make sure they are safe for you and your pregnancy.

Below are some great exercises to do:

Squats

Doing squats is a great way to help strengthen your pelvic muscles and opening up the pelvis, making it easier for your baby to make their way down into the birthing canal. Squats are one of the best ways to help prepare the body for natural childbirth.

Lunges

Lunges help move the baby into a proper birthing position and can aid in trigger contractions.

Butterflies

Sitting in the butterfly position can help open up and relax your hip muscles, easing pain in your hips. This position also helps soften the cervix by putting pressure on it.

Red Raspberry Leaf Tea

Red raspberry leaf tea is a herbal tea that helps strengthen your uterus which can help with an easier and less painful childbirth. But it also increases uterine activity which can help start contractions.

Sex

I know, end of pregnancy, being uncomfortable, feeling huge, you might not be in the mood for sex. Or maybe you are the complete opposite and you can’t get enough sex! Either way, sex is a great way to induce labor naturally. Having an orgasm releases oxytocin, and oxytocin is a hormone produced in your body that stimulates contractions. And sperm may help soften the cervix. So sex works into different ways to help start labor!

Evening Primrose Oil

Evening primrose oil taken orally can help start labor and shorten the duration of labor. Please consult your health care professional before taking so you know how much to take.

Nipple Stimulation

Nipple stimulation is another way to release oxytocin into your body which causes contractions.
Rolling your nipples or using a breast pump on a low setting are great ways to achieve this.

Walking

WALK, WALK, WALK keeping active and moving helps jump start labor. Walking helps bounce your baby up and downing, increasing pressure on your cervix which helps it dilate.

Once labor has started walking also can help progress labor more quickly.

Birthing Ball

Using a birthing ball/fitness ball is another recommended way to help progress labor.

Bouncing and rolling on the ball while sitting, are an excellent way to help and prepare your body going into labor naturally.

There you have it! Some easy and fun ways to help induce labor naturally!

It’s crazy how some of these work for some women and not for others. I went 12 days over my due date and had tried almost all of these. I ended up taking castor oil the night before I was going to be induced. I went into labor about 3 hours later. Nice post!
